For more than 30 years, I’ve remodeled homes throughout Utah. As the owner and contractor at Isher, I’ve always believed a home should be more than beautiful. It should feel comfortable, function naturally, and support the people who live there.

That belief became much more personal when I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and my health and mobility changed. For the first time, I experienced my own home not as a contractor, but as someone who needed his home to work differently. Simple things suddenly mattered more—getting in and out of the shower, navigating stairs, moving from room to room, carrying things, or finding a comfortable place to rest. My home was still familiar and comfortable, but I realized it didn’t always support the way I needed to live.

How I think about homes now led to our philosophy: Designing Homes for Real Life. 

Life changes. An injury, surgery, aging, a disability, or a changing family can all affect the way you use your home. But you don’t have to wait for a problem before thinking about what comes next. Designing Homes for Real Life means creating spaces that work beautifully today while giving you the flexibility to adapt as life changes. Sometimes that means a simple improvement. Sometimes it’s a bathroom or kitchen remodel. And sometimes it means rethinking how the entire home functions. Whatever the project, we start with you. We listen to how you live, what matters to you, what isn’t working, and what you want your home to provide for years to come.

With more than 30 years of construction experience in Utah, Isher brings practical building knowledge to every project. We are also a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders, giving us specialized insight into creating homes that are safer, more comfortable, accessible, and adaptable.

At Isher, we believe accessibility can be beautiful. Safety doesn’t have to look clinical, and a home can be easier to use without looking like it was designed around a limitation. Thoughtful design should simply feel natural—and fit the way you want to live.
